About the Position
Telematics-Online provides contract services to various promoters of
Pay-Per-View events who own broadcast rights for events put on by World
Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), HBO, ShowTime and the Ultimate
Fighting Championship (UFC).
Promoters of specific sporting events own certain telecast rights to air the
events on a premium channel or Pay-Per-View. Many bars, restaurants, and casinos
pay the promoter a fee for rights to display the commercial broadcast of the
sporting event in hopes that it will attract more customers. However, many
establishments fail to pay the applicable licensing fee.
As a Signal Theft Investigator your job is to identify establishments
which violate federal criminal and civil laws by publicly displaying copyrighted
events without the proper authorization. These unauthorized establishments are
called pirates.
Job Description
A Signal Theft Investigator visits as many establishments as
possible in their area during the broadcast of a Pay-Per-View event and in
essence perform a secret audit of the establishment posing as a customer. If the
establishment is not showing the event you move on to the next establishment. If
the establishment is showing the event you record specific details pertaining to
the venue showing the event. As a Signal Theft Investigator you have
the potential to earn in excess of $1000.00 per event. There are approximately 2-5
events per month.
How much do I get paid?
You are paid only for the establishments which you catch showing a pirate event.
Investigators earn $125 per establishment.
Signal theft investigators have the potential of earning over $1000.00 per event.
The promoters of these events lose millions of dollars in lost licensing
revenues. They pay a very competitive bounty fee for the discovery of each
location (you are paid regardless of fines, prosecution and settlements etc…).
The promoters see this as a small price to pay for future compliance and
the safeguarding of licensing revenue. On average each establishment settles
outside of court for between $3K - $10K.
